NEWS FROM SUMMER 2026
David Green. It is with great sadness that we share the news that David Green has passed away in Menorca. He was a great friend, delightful companion and a steadfast supporter (he also served as a churchwarden) of Santa Margarita. He will be very much missed by all at the church and all his friends.
Paul shared the sad news with us in July saying
“With a heavy heart, I am sad to pass on the news that David Green died late last night.
He was with his daughter, Cathy, and her husband, Richard.
He was a good man in ways that many of us don’t even know or appreciate. And he was a loyal and dedicated servant of our community of faith. May he rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon him.”
Wendy is currently with her daughters in Harrogate looking for a place to settle, but we hope we can see her soon. We send our deepest sympathy to her and to his family.
19 July - Patronal Feast – Fiesta of Santa Margarita.
On Sunday evening, 19 July to celebrate our fiesta, we processed from the Roman Catholic church of El Roser, with Santa Margarita mounted on a horse and carriage. We then enjoyed choral vespers with the choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge in the church. There was pizza and other refreshments to share with the choir afterwards.
Monday 20 July at 20.00. The choir of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge also offered a recital in the church of Santa Maria, in Mahón which was thoroughly enjoyed by many.
Jamie and Katherine Brayford (part of our extended church family!) who visit us regularly with their two small children, were ordained as Deacons in St. Paul’s Cathedral, London, at the end of June. They were with us again for holiday in August. They are part of the C of E church KXC in Kings Cross London and will continue to work there.
Building Works. Following the demolition of the Sacristy, building works have commenced on the adjacent site at the rear of the church! Progress can be viewed during coffee time on Sundays ! Whilst we wait for the new Sacristy to be built, the portakabin is serving us well!
FUTURE EVENTS
Harvest – Sunday 13 September. We will be celebrating Harvest in church at 11am. There will also be a chaplaincy event on Tuesday 8 September at 4.30pm at the home of Johnny and Jan Wright. All are invited. Details of the address can be obtained from Johnny who will be in church in the early weeks of September.
Creationtide. On Sunday, 4 October, at 19:00, a special evening service to conclude this season, with prayer, reading, silence, a guided meditation and a soundscape created using instruments chosen for their rich resonance and calming, immersive tones, to create a gentle atmosphere of stillness and calm.
Coffee after Sunday services. Thank you to the volunteers who have joined the group serving refreshments after the service. Further volunteers are welcome. The small donations of 1.50€ per cup of coffee each week are used to support a number of different aspects of chaplaincy life from aiding the needy with food, to the floral decorations in the church.

The church offers English-language
Worship(holy communion) on Sundays (at 9:00 and 11:00) and Wednesdays (11:00), with a service of healing prayer and holy communion on Fridays (11:00).
The Anglican Church in Menorca, based at Santa Margarita in Es Castell, serves the whole island of Menorca.
All are welcome to join us for worship and fellowship.
